Overview
Our IP65/IP66 Waterproof Testing ensures that every solar lighting fixture can withstand harsh outdoor environments — from tropical monsoons to coastal salt spray. We conduct rigorous ingress protection testing per IEC 60529 standards to verify that water cannot penetrate the electronic components.
IP Rating Definitions
| Rating | Protection | Test Method |
|---|---|---|
| IP65 | Protected against water jets (6.3mm nozzle, 12.5L/min, 30kPa) | Water jet from all directions, 1m distance, 3 min |
| IP66 | Protected against powerful water jets (12.5mm nozzle, 100L/min, 100kPa) | Powerful water jet from all directions, 3m distance, 3 min |
| IP67 | Protected against temporary immersion (1m depth, 30 min) | Immersion in water tank |
Testing Protocol
1. Pre-Test Inspection
- Visual inspection of all seals, gaskets, and cable glands
- Torque verification of all fasteners
- Interior humidity baseline measurement
2. Water Jet Test (IP66)
- Mount fixture on turntable rotating at 1 RPM
- Apply 12.5mm nozzle at 100L/min flow rate and 100kPa pressure
- Spray from all directions for minimum 3 minutes
- Distance: 3m from fixture
3. Post-Test Inspection
- Immediate visual inspection for water ingress
- Interior humidity measurement (must remain <85% RH)
- Insulation resistance test: >2MΩ
- Functional test: light must operate normally immediately after test
- 48-hour observation for any delayed water penetration
Design Features for Waterproofing
- Silicone rubber O-rings at all enclosure joints
- Marine-grade stainless steel fasteners (SUS316)
- IP68-rated cable glands with strain relief
- Conformal coating on all PCB assemblies
- Potted LED drivers for complete moisture protection
- Breather valves (Gore-Tex) for pressure equalization without water ingress
