MPPT Solar Charge Controller

Maximum power point tracking for optimized charging efficiency.

Overview

The MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Solar Charge Controller is the brain of every solar lighting system. By continuously tracking the optimal operating point of the solar panel, our MPPT controller extracts 20-30% more energy compared to traditional PWM controllers, ensuring faster battery charging and longer lighting durations.

How MPPT Works

Unlike PWM controllers that simply match the battery voltage, MPPT controllers use a DC-DC converter to independently optimize the solar panel’s operating voltage (Vmp) and current (Imp). This ensures the panel always operates at its maximum power point (Pmax), regardless of battery state, temperature, or irradiance conditions.

Key Features

  • Tracking Efficiency: >99.5% peak, >97% average
  • Conversion Efficiency: >98% (buck converter)
  • Wide Input Range: 8V-60V PV input, supports 12V/24V/36V systems
  • Battery Compatibility: LiFePO4, GEL, AGM, Flooded (user-selectable)
  • Protection: Over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit, reverse polarity, over-temperature
  • Data Logging: 30-day history of voltage, current, and energy production
  • Communication: RS485 Modbus, optional Bluetooth/WiFi module
