Industrial Park Yard Lighting Retrofit

A complete off-grid solar lighting retrofit for a 120,000m² industrial park, replacing aging grid-tied fixtures with 85 solar-powered LED units across yard, perimeter, and loading dock areas.

Application Factory yard and perimeter lighting
Customer Type Factory Owner

Project Description

Project Background

The industrial park, spanning over 120,000 square meters, previously relied on grid-tied metal halide fixtures that were expensive to operate and prone to frequent outages. The factory owner sought a sustainable, off-grid lighting solution that could reduce energy costs while improving illumination quality across the yard, perimeter roads, and loading docks.

Challenge

The existing lighting infrastructure suffered from high electricity bills (approximately $45,000 annually), inconsistent illumination with dark spots, and frequent maintenance requirements due to aging wiring. The factory required a solution that could operate independently of the grid to ensure continuous illumination even during power outages.

Solution

Solaralite designed a comprehensive solar lighting system combining three product lines:

  • Solaralite SPL-100 Split Solar Street Lights were installed along the main perimeter road, providing 12-meter pole-height illumination with 100W LED output and a 200W solar panel for reliable all-night operation.
  • Solaralite IFL-150 Industrial Solar Flood Lights were deployed across the loading dock and main yard area, delivering 150W of high-intensity illumination with a 300W solar panel and 3-day autonomy battery backup.
  • Solaralite AIO-80 All-In-One Solar Street Lights were installed along secondary pathways and parking areas, offering compact design with integrated solar panels and motion sensors for energy efficiency.

Installation Process

The installation was completed over 6 weeks with minimal disruption to factory operations. The project included 85 lighting units across the entire facility, with custom pole heights ranging from 8 to 12 meters depending on the application area. All units feature smart controllers with dusk-to-dawn operation and motion-sensing dimming capabilities.

The industrial solar lighting retrofit delivered transformative results for the facility. By eliminating grid dependency entirely, the factory now saves approximately $45,000 per year in electricity costs. The new LED solar lighting provides 40% brighter illumination compared to the previous metal halide system, significantly improving safety for night-shift workers and loading dock operations.

The motion-sensing dimming feature reduces light pollution during low-traffic periods while instantly activating full brightness when movement is detected. With a 3-day battery autonomy, the system continues to operate seamlessly through extended cloudy periods. The maintenance-free design has eliminated the recurring costs of bulb replacements and wiring repairs, resulting in an estimated payback period of just 2.8 years.
